A few years ago, my uncle – who runs a small plumbing business – hired a marketing company here in Nanaimo.
He was paying almost $1000 every month, but wasn’t getting results. It was jeopardizing his business.
When I dug into the numbers, I found out he was being taken advantage of. They billed him $150 for Facebook ad budget, but only spent $30. They charged him $850 for a freely available website template, and didn’t even change the generic text. And worst of all, they refused to answer the phone.
I knew tradespeople deserved better.
I’ve worked a lot of hands-on jobs over the years – tilesetting, woodwork, oyster farming, flooring, fire suppression, industrial pipefitting, salmon fishing, and more. Most people don’t want to fuss with websites or ads or SEO —they just need calls, jobs, and time for their work.

During COVID, I joined a marketing agency in Victoria and learned the technical side—audits, strategy, SEO, and advertising. Combining that with my background in the trades, I created Good Earth Marketing to give local businesses a partner they could trust.
